Milan’s transfer business is seemingly on hold until after their meeting with UEFA on Friday, but speculation continues to suggest plans are being made in the background.
The Rossoneri officially unveiled Lucas Paqueta on Monday and the Brazilian starlet’s arrival will be a welcome boost as he looks to emerge as an influential figure as soon as possible in midfield.

However, given our pursuit of a Champions League qualification spot this season, more is perhaps needed to give Gennaro Gattuso the quality and depth required to ensure that we secure a top-four finish.
With that in mind, La Gazzetta dello Sport note that both Stefano Sensi and Yannick Carrasco have emerged as the two priorities for January, with the pair perhaps arriving on initial loan deals to ensure that Milan are able to adhere to the FFP parameters moving forward.
Nevertheless, the report adds that sporting director Leonardo is also looking at options for the summer to bolster the squad, with Krzysztof Piatek and Alvaro Morata named as two alternative options if Gonzalo Higuain isn’t signed on a permanent basis.
As noted by Sky Sports, we paid €18m to take him on loan from Juventus last summer, while we’ll have to spend another €36m to make it a permanent move at the end of the season. Marca have suggested that Chelsea are on the verge of signing him this month, but time will tell if that materialises as we’d surely first need to secure a replacement before allowing him to cut short his loan stint.
In turn, it would appear as though there will be further activity in January and the summer, but it remains to be seen what deals can be done.
With regards to movement the other way, Calciomercato note that Andrea Bertolacci is the subject of talks with Genoa, although his wages are said to be a potential obstacle. Provided that a compromise can be reached with Milan tipped to cover part of his salary, he could be set to end his underwhelming spell with us sooner rather than later.
Elsewhere, MilanNews.it, report that Fabio Borini and Alen Halilovic are also possibly on their way of the club this month, with moves to Shenzhen and Besiktas respectively being touted.
It’s hoped that further additions can be made in January to strengthen our chances of sealing a spot at Europe’s top table next season, and so these exits could be crucial in giving the hierarchy the flexibility to go out and secure targets.
Given the lack of playing time that the trio in question have had this season too, it seems like sensible dealings to allow them to move on.
