Paolo Maldini discussed a range of topics after watching AC Milan secure a 2-1 win over Parma at the San Siro on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Patrick Cutrone and Franck Kessie saw us come from behind to win for the second time this week, and the three points moved us up into fourth place in Serie A.

Naturally, that is the objective this season to secure a return to the Champions League, and Maldini was in positive mood after watching our performance as he noted that he sees Gattuso’s characteristics in the current side.
“We have improved in many things, we have to improve in the identity of the game but we have more ways to get the result. This Milan looks like Rino, the coach gives his team his imprint; there is not only one way to play,” he is quoted as saying by Sky Sport Italia.
“The players and the club believe in fourth place, it is our goal, despite all the difficulties. We have a lot of issues that do not allow us to make some investments, but we believe in the team and in the coach.”
Meanwhile, his focus also switched to potential transfer targets as he specifically mentioned Cesc Fabregas and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who have both been linked with a move to join the Rossoneri.
Lucas Paqueta is set to arrive in the New Year, but particularly with the current injury crisis, it’s hoped that we can add more reinforcements to help us through the second half of the campaign and maintain this current momentum.
“Fabregas and Ibra? We have some ideas, it’s normal since we are already in December, we want to do everything to get to the top four. If we can do something we will, but we are happy with this team. There are also several expiring players who are showing great professionalism.”
Further, Maldini also commented on the current standing of the club as it certainly appears to be in a more stable condition after Elliott assumed control from Yonghong Li.
Moving forward, it’s hoped that we can continue to move in the right direction on and off the pitch, while the club icon also revealed that his work with sporting director Leonardo is already paying dividends.
“There’s enthusiasm again, even the fans see that there is a serious project, I see a bright future, the club is solid, the project is there. My role as a manager? I’m learning so much from Leonardo, it’s great to work with him, we have a very good relationship.”
