AC Milan transfer news: Real Madrid set price-tag for Martin Odegaard

AC Milan reportedly hold an interest in Real Madrid ace Martin Odegaard, but the Spanish giants value their young star at €40m.

The 21-year-old joined them in 2015, but having made just two appearances for the club he has been shipped out on a string of loan deals, the latest of which sees him at Real Sociedad who have an option to extend his loan stay for another season.

Given he’s scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 28 appearances so far this season, they may well decide to exercise that option, but it’s suggested that Milan also have an interest in the Norwegian international.

As reported by Calciomercato, via the paper edition of Tuttosport, Milan are keen on Odegaard, but Real Madrid are said to want €40m for him which will surely raise doubts over a possible swoop from the Rossoneri.

While he has shown his quality this season which could ultimately convince Los Blancos that he has a big future ahead of him at the Bernabeu, that’s a lot of money to splash out on a player who has yet to prove himself at the top level on a consistent basis.

In turn, while he fits the mould in terms of Milan’s transfer strategy of targeting talented young players with plenty of potential and room for improvement both in terms of quality and value, time will tell if it’s a deal that they decide to pursue in order to strengthen our midfield ahead of next season.

Having now been linked to the likes of Odegaard, Sandro Tonali, Teun Koopmeiners and Dominik Szoboszlai though, it shows a clear indication that we’re looking to bring in a technically gifted, composed and young player to improve that area of the squad.
