AC Milan transfer news: Five-man Ralf Rangnick shortlist put forward…if he arrives

Speculation is rife about the changes that could happen at Milan this summer, perhaps the most important of which will be the possible appointment of Ralf Rangnick.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet amid ongoing reports that he will meet with Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis at some point when it is safe to do so as the coronavirus lockdown measures ease, it hasn’t stopped rumours from surfacing about possible transfer targets.

It’s difficult to see how Rangnick can be planning for a job that he may or may not yet get as far as we’re aware, but here we are. As reported by MilanNews, via Sportmediaset, he has even assembled a transfer shortlist consisting of five targets to rebuild and reshape the squad to suit his ideas and strategy moving forward.

Nikola Milenkovic, Luka Jovic, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florentino Luis and Denzel Dumfries are said to be the five names on his shopping list, and it’s likely to be an expensive one too with Milenkovic and Dumfries alone said to likely cost us €50m.

Time will tell just how realistic these options are and whether or not Rangnick is even appointed to make such deals materialise, but in fairness they would address key issues in the current squad whether it’s a lack of quality or depth in certain positions.

The more immediate focus will be on supporting the likes of Stefano Pioli and Paolo Maldini who are actually in the jobs being discussed as we look to enjoy a successful end to the current campaign, and perhaps then we’ll see if changes are made at the top and to the squad in order to put in place the pieces for a large-scale rebuild.
