AC Milan transfer news: €79m plan for Milinkovic-Savic, Sensi valuation while Kessie attracts interest

Milan are reportedly continuing to assess their options in the transfer market with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Stefano Sensi and Yannick Carrasco all being linked with arrivals.

The Rossoneri will return after the winter break just a point behind Lazio in fourth place, having bounced back to end a torrid December on a high note with a win over SPAL.

However, our performances and form weren’t good enough and it ultimately could still cost us, making January reinforcements and key individuals returning from injury all the more important.

Speculation remains rife over who could arrive to bolster the squad, with MilanNews noting via the paper edition of Il Messaggero that Milinkovic-Savic is back on the radar with a €79m bid being touted.

That would consist of an initial €9m loan deal with an obligation to buy set at €70m, which would be paid over three years. Further, it’s suggested that Diego Laxalt could be included in the deal.

Given we’re in direct competition with Lazio for fourth spot and Champions League qualification, it makes no sense for them to sell one of their best players halfway through the season. In turn, a January deal looks highly unlikely, albeit we could reignite our interest in the summer with the help of the revenue generated from being back at Europe’s top table.

Milinkovic-Savic has struggled to hit top form so far this season, contributing just three goals and an assist in 22 outings. However, as seen in the video below, he certainly reminded us of his quality with his strike against Torino prior to the winter break.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that Gennaro Gattuso has given the green light to pursue Sassuolo midfielder Stefano Sensi, while winger Yannick Carrasco continues to be linked as he eyes a return to Europe from China.

The Sensi move arguably seems more realistic at this stage, although MilanNews add that Sassuolo could value him at €25m which ultimately seems far too high a price to pay and could end our interest.

In terms of possible exits, Calciomercato note that both Chelsea and Tottenham are interested in Franck Kessie, with the 22-year-old said to have a €40m valuation.

It has to be said that he hasn’t really improved or developed significantly in the 18 months that he’s been with Milan, but he’s surely far too important to the team at this stage to consider selling.

Nevertheless, with Lucas Paqueta arriving and possibly further midfield reinforcements being signed in the summer, he’ll certainly have work to do to establish himself as a permanent fixture in the XI and prove that he can take his game to the next level and deliver on his potential.
